Then, Now, Next: Women in Philanthropy: Mary Forte

Mary ForteWhen Siobhán Ross died in a car accident on November 26, 2014, her mother, Mary Forte, was shattered. At the time of her death, Siobhán was a treasured member of the Providence College family, having served as the coordinator of the Instructional Technology Development Program at Providence College for seven years. PC embraced Mary and walked together with her in grief during those early days.

When Mary and Siobhán’s partner, Eric Robinson, were considering how to best mark Siobhán’s life, the idea of a permanently endowed scholarship at PC felt right. Mary and Eric, together with family and friends, actively fundraised to establish the Siobhán Ross Endowed Scholarship, to which Mary continues to steadfastly contribute. Because of their efforts, students like Gisselle Baeza ’21 are already benefiting. Mary has also named the scholarship as a beneficiary of her will.

In the above video, Mary remembers her daughter and shares a little of her story.
